These days, it is hard to turn on the radio and television, or open a magazine to not be bombarded with advertisements about skin care products. They have people testifying on infomercials that these products are making their skin lines disappear. Billions of dollars are spent on cosmetic products because people want to look better and younger. But there is no proof what so ever that these products are effective. In fact, many can be harmful and cause the skin to age faster. Many of our patients asked us "what do you think is a good product to use Doctor?" This prompted Dr. Rafizadeh to search through many skin care systems and come up with two different product lines—Obagi Nuderm™ and Biomedic™ products.

Both these companies have a systematic approach to skin care and offer products that are effective in helping patients improve their skin.

Christine is our clinical skin care specialist. She is a registered nurse with additional training in skin care and has more than 9 years of experience in this field. She will assess the patient's needs and perform micropeels using glycolic acid or salicylic acid depending on the patients condition.

We offer two lines of skin care products that are useful to improve your skins texture and color. They are offered to patients coming primarily for skin care, or to post-facelift patients who desire further improvement in the skin texture.

Obagi Nuderm Products
Very useful to correct freckles, age spots and larger discolorations on the face. They are usually used in combination with Retin A and produce dramatic results. This treatment reduces fine wrinkles, improves scars and makes the pores smaller. The skin will appear smoother and younger. Most patients, after seeing the results, will remain on this treatment indefinitely. Many times, the treatment can be supplemented with the Blue Peels to further enhance the results. To initiate this treatment, an evaluation by Dr. Rafizadeh is required.

Biomedic Products and micropeels

Microdermabrasion
It starts with a thorough skin cleansing, then a relaxing massage, then crystals are blown against the skin and suctioned at the same time. A soothing mask follows the treatment and biomedic products are applied. You are ready to go back to work or to play after this treatment. This is a useful skin care procedure during which the superficial keratin layers of the skin are removed by a strong flow of particles. Your skin will feel fresher and repeated treatments will result in much better skin texture.

Botox Injection & Restylane
Botox is a very popular procedure and extremely helpful to erase active facial wrinkles such as crows feet, forehead lines, frown lines, and the vertical neck platisma bands. This procedure is also useful for vertical lip lines. Botox is approved by the FDA and is available by appointment as an in-office procedure. Because of his extensive knowledge of the surgical anatomy of the facial muscles, Dr. Rafizadeh can take the Botox treatment beyond the effacement of the wrinkles. He can create many desirable aesthetic changes to the face. For example, a chemical brow lift or removal of neck muscle bands.

Restylane, a skin filler, is also approved by the FDA for cosmetic tissue augmentation and is extremely popular. It is very useful to enhance the appearance of the lips and fill wrinkles and creases in the face. Dr. Rafizadeh can create artistic changes in the lips and restore their youthful sensual appearance. We are amazed to notice how long the results last. We have patients returning after a year and find that they have retained most of the Restylane in thier lips. Other fillers are used with longer lasting results. Juvederm Ultra Plus lasts longer and is good for areas like the nasolabial folds. Radiesse, a thicker material, is great for enhancing cheeks, chin or correct nasal deformities (rhinoplasty).
